When diagnosed in 2016 with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Michele re-evaluated her stressful job and decided to take a step back. After treatment ended, she wanted to give back somehow and therefore dedicated her time to helping others with the same type of cancer.
She also started a campaign to change the law for cancer patients to have access to free dental care and, to date, the campaign has attracted almost 200,000 signatures. Work on the campaign is ongoing, with the help of Michele’s MP, and they have been fortunate to meet with Government Ministers to table it for discussion. Watch this space!
Unfortunately in late 2021, Michele hit another medical blip and was diagnosed with a rare bladder cancer – so rare she’s only number 48 in the world to have it! However, having cancer for a second time, she knew what to expect, and realised her previous brush with Triple Negative, (and everything she’d learnt), prepared her for the onslaught of new terminology, medical appointments, surgeries, and treatments.
Realising how helpful her previous knowledge was, she decided to write a book offering a “one stop shop” to demystify Triple Negative and help others understand their diagnosis ….. and that, as they say, is that …… the book was born!
